Hardwin & Sheena

What a wonderful place. The house and grounds and location are simply spectacular. In town but feels like you are in the countryside! Mistral? This house laughs at it and turns it into a gentle summer breeze! That is just the beginning of the wonder it provides. Laze by the pool - done. Game of pool or pétanque or darts or basketball with the teenagers - done. Short hop to the Papal palace in Avignon done. Beautiful and plentiful living areas inside and outside. Great bedrooms and bathrooms - not all en-suite and granite work surfaces but that’s clear from the house details and matters not a jot. And I haven’t even got to the best bit yet - John and Donna who look after the house are so so brilliant. You wouldn’t know they were there (live in a separate property in the grounds) most of the time but if you need anything they are brilliantly helpful. When they suggest to you that they could help with catering - just say yes! Exceptional food (prepared for 30 guests for an 18th birthday)!” Simon (Airbnb).

“Oh my goodness, what a place. And what a house. We came to La Fontaine Aux Oliviers looking for a classic south of France family holiday escape and it was perfect on literally every level. The moment you drive in down the avenue of lime trees to the front of the house you realise you are in a very special spot. No arrival disappointment here!

I honestly felt like I was in the film A Good Year. We were met by lovely Donna and John who were a joy for the whole week and made our stay the easiest it could be – looking after us beautifully while giving us plenty of space, and showing us how to get to the market in St Rémis and all sorts of other little useful things. It was pretty hot for our week but because the house is old and made of stone it was deliciously cool inside, and we simply sat on the verandah or under the magnificent trees outside.

Our day would generally start by walking up into Barbentane for a bag full of croissants and pains au chocolat, followed by hours with our two girls in the pool playing Quidditch, or trips to the local abbey or into the forest. It’s also ridiculously easy to get into Avignon – literally 15 minutes away and loads of easy parking. Sheena has down the house up BEAUTIFULLY.

Because it’s their home for much of the year it feels loved and cared for and not at all like a rental property. We felt incredibly lucky to put our normal life aside for a week and spend a special 7 days in this glorious little corner of Provençe. I’m not recommending La Fontaine Aux Oliviers to everyone. I’m only recommending it to people who I think really deserve it…” Ed Sowerby (PVT Letting).

“We loved our stay at La Fontaine aux Oliviers in Barbentane!  The house is gorgeous, very spacious and perfect for a family holiday with several guests.  We found our beds very comfortable and slept incredibly well.  The bathrooms are clean and modern. There are plenty of areas to relax and read a book both indoors and out whilst others are in the pool or garden.   I recommend walking in the pine forests surrounding the town and cycling to Ville Vielle .  There are so many interesting towns and markets to explore locally you will feel you have earned the fresh croissants served at breakfast!”  Catherine McT.
